Wimbledon Parkside St Paul

Welcome to Wimbledon Parkside St Paul

This Parish is registered with the Parish Giving Scheme which allows you to give to this Parish securely and safely online. Please click 'Regular Giving' to set up a monthly, quarterly, or annual Direct Debit or ‘One-Off Gift’ to make a single gift using your Debit, Credit Card or Apple/Google Pay wallet.

As a church we rely entirely on the financial generosity of supporters like you. Your support of St Paul's, Wimbledon Parkside enables our ongoing ministry. By giving regularly through PGS, you are ensuring that our building is maintained, staff are paid, and the doors of St Paul's are open to the local community.

If you are able, please inflation-link your gift to St Paul's; this is an enormous help to us as we face rising costs over the years. If you are a UK taxpayer, please make a Gift Aid declaration; this increases your gift by 25% at no cost to you.

Thank you for your generous support – it is greatly appreciated.

We are a friendly, open and inclusive church.  We welcome everyone from any faith and none, and from any age-group, nationality and background. We come from a variety of Christian and other traditions. We meet together to renew and build our Christian knowledge and faith and try to live our lives according to the example and teachings of Jesus. Some people attend services most Sundays, others less frequently, and some only occasionally on major festivals like Easter and Christmas. We are at different places in our spiritual journeys, and we have different interpretations of the Christian faith, but we enjoy learning from and encouraging each other.

Our Vicar is Revd Susan Bolen. Our Licensed Reader, Norman Allen, takes some services and Joan Endean is our Southwark Pastoral Auxiliary. Our local Bishop is the Bishop of Kingston and we are part of the Diocese of Southwark.

Our main service is Holy Communion, with music, at 10 am, followed by tea and coffee in the Community Centre. Music has a central place in our worship. We have a Director of Music, Kevin Jones, and an active church choir. We also have quiet services in the small chapel, and the church is open at set times each week for prayer and quiet reflection. Our main services are livestreamed on our YouTube channel: St Paul's Wimbledon Parkside. You are very welcome to join us online or in church.

Families are especially welcome. We run 'Tea & Toys' for parents/carers and toddlers, normally every Tuesday at 9.30 am in church during term-time. Every first Sunday in the month (in the afternoon) we hold Messy Church, a different, more informal, approach to worship for children and adults.

We aim to serve our local community in different ways, many of them based on our Community Centre, where we run several different groups and activities for local people. Our Vicar takes very seriously her duty to serve everyone who lives in the parish.

The church building dates from 1896 and is listed Grade II*, mainly because of the striking interior by a famous Victorian designer, Charles Eamer Kempe. Of particular note are the stained glass windows and the carved reredos to the rear of the  high altar. The church has a wonderful acoustic quality and is a much sought-after venue for concerts and musical recitals year-round. Refer to our website www.stpaulsparkside.org.uk for details of upcoming events at St Paul's.

Please feel free to come along and visit us for a service or during open church hours.  Have a look around, or say a quiet prayer if you wish to. Any of our staff team will be happy to chat, so don't feel hesitant about approaching us. If a service is taking place, do feel free to join in, or just sit quietly as you prefer. You are at home here and we look forward to welcoming you.
