Welcome to West Hatch St Andrew
This Parish has not as yet registered with the Parish Giving Scheme and as such unfortunately you are not yet able to set up a direct debit or make a one-off gift to this Parish. If you would like to in the future, please 'Register your interest' and we will convey your interest onto the Parish.
We are a friendly and welcoming church community wanting to help everyone know, love and serve God. We want to grow in Spirit and in number so that we can do more in our community and serve the people as best as we can.
Through the work of the Holy Spirit we aim to worship God, grow in faith and reach out to others with the good news of Jesus Christ.
St Andrew’s church is a beautiful church, dating back to the 15th century, in a picturesque, peaceful setting, in the centre of the village of West Hatch, it is adjacent to the well-used Village Hall, and adjoins the Church Field which is used for church and parish events. The church is open for quiet prayer, to have a look around, or simply to sit and contemplate, just as others have done over the last 500 years.
In addition to leading church services, our Benefice Ministry Team also visit those in need – in hospital, in nursing homes, or at home, bringing a listening ear as well as God’s healing presence, comfort and strength. If you or anyone you know would like a visit please contact one of our Churchwardens or a member of the Ministry Team (contact details via our web pages as below).
We also bring God’s unconditional love to the younger generation by helping to fund our Seven Sowers Benefice Children, Schools and Families Worker, Holly. Holly visits our 3 benefice primary schools regularly having contact with 300 children most weeks, as well as working with families at Messy Church and other Benefice & School events. We may not have many children in our traditional Sunday church services, but we are taking the love and compassion of our Loving Lord out to where the children are.
Looking beyond our local area, Festival services, such as Harvest, Christingle and Sea Sunday, focus on, and are in aid of, good causes including Farming Community Network, the Children’s Society, and the Sailors’ Society. We also support Taunton Foodbank.
In the busy and ever-changing world of today, people need to know now, more than ever, the calming and life-giving presence of God in their lives. If you would like to help us in our work of sowing the seeds of the Gospel, please give. A one-off donation would be very welcome, but if you are able to commit to a regular amount, if possible with the option of cost of living increases, that would help us to plan our work more effectively. May God Bless you. Thank you
We offer a warm welcome to you from our staff team, church wardens and all our parishioners. The seven rural parishes that comprise the Benefice are set in a wonderful part of Somerset, just south of Taunton. The Benefice has a number of very committed people who work hard to ensure the church is always open. We are committed to seeing God's work grow and develop, both within the church and wider community. Each of the churches in the Seven Sowers Benefice provides a focus for Christian worship and outreach in that community.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God (Philippians 4:6)
