St Thomas' stands at the heart of Lydiate, serving the parish faithfully for over 180 years. Built between 1839 and 1841 to meet the needs of the growing rural community, the church originally reflected the simple, dignified style of early Victorian parish churches.

In 1912, the building was thoughtfully enlarged with the addition of a chancel, south chapel, and vestry, creating the welcoming space you see today. Constructed of local sandstone with a traditional slate roof, St Thomas' has long been a familiar landmark for those travelling through the village.

Generations have gathered here to worship, celebrate, and mark life's milestones. Baptisms, weddings, and community events have woven the church into the fabric of parish life. Our connection with local schools and community groups continues that tradition of service and welcome.
