Irstead: St Michael's

St Michael's is a Broadland church of character and great charm situated in the hamlet of Irstead,150m from public moorings on the River Ant just below Barton Broad on the Norfolk Broads.  We are a small congregation and look forward to welcoming you to our services.

Church Open  daily from 9am to 6pm with something for everyone - a Prayer Walk, Church Guide and Children's Trail, or just take a moment to sit and wonder at this special place.  The church is currently beautifully decorated for Easter.

Roof Re-ridging Appeal - Giving Online
Any donation that you are able to give for the upkeep of this special place will most gratefully received.  On Monday 1st May 2023 we launched a special appeal to raise money for our roof re-ridging.  Although a thatched roof can last in excess of 50 years, the sedge ridge has to be replaced every 20 years or so.   Our roof was rethatched in 2000 and so the time has come to replace the ridge.  This will be undertaken in late 2024 at a cost of about £27,000.   Donations  online directly to St Michael's Church can be made through the Norwich Diocesan website. More details about our launch and online giving can be found on our News Page.  It is now possible to give electronically when visiting the church.

Our Prayer Walk and Church Guide are available online which you may wish to access when visiting the church, but paper copies are now available in the church.
