This is the central 'landing page' for gifts to any of the churches and parishes in the new Benefice of High Weald Churches (officially the 'Benefice of Penshurst, Fordcombe and the Chiddingstone Churches'). These parishes' legal and financial affairs have now been unified under the governance of a single, joint Council, which will look after your generous gifts as wisely as it can. Two-thirds of our churches' annual running costs are completely entwined because they meet the stipends, training and housing of the benefice's two minsters and administrator. Only a third of our costs are concerned with the running and maintaining the fabric of the individual churches.
So we hope that you will be happy to make your gifts to the central account of the Benefice, in order that the Council can use them flexibly. If, however, you have a strong preference for restricting your gift for the benefit of a particular church, we can work with this - please contact our treasurer, David Lough, via office@highwealdchurches.org.uk, to discuss how we can help .
We encourage the use of the Parish Giving Scheme to channel your gifts because it simplifies our administration (by reducing our bank charges and cutting paperwork while we reclaim Gift Aid) and because it allows you for the first time - if you opt in - to increase your gifts each year to help us deal with inflation. A traditional bank standing order can't cope with this (you have to cancel the standing order and start a new one). The Parish Giving Scheme's inflation-linking option is not automatic - if you tick this option, you will still be asked each year if you want to go ahead with it. We hope you will.
