Why does Romsey Abbey need your support?
It costs at least £1,400 a day to maintain this magnificent building that hosts so many services and festivals, musical and cultural events as well as educational activities and is open to all. This great Norman Abbey has existed for over a thousand years but we cannot take its future for granted. We are entirely self-funded and receive no support from the State or the Church of England to support our buildings or activities. Whether you value this Abbey as a place of Christian worship, for its magnificent architecture or its unique place in Romsey’s history or simply as a great place to hold a concert, recital or other event, you too can help to secure its future. Welcome to Romsey Abbey. Romsey Abbey is one of the finest examples of Norman architecture in Southern England. Dedicated to St Mary and St Ethelflæda, an Abbess of Romsey at the time of the first millennium, it is home to a thriving community of Christians.
